The JACSSON summer school – Joint AMUtech & C'Nano Summer School on Nanomaterials, co-organized by the AMUtech Institute and C'Nano, offers a complete immersion in the world of nanosciences and nanotechnologies.

With a resolutely multidisciplinary approach, it aims to provide participants with the conceptual and methodological tools essential for addressing major research topics related to nanomaterials, through a coherent set of lectures and seminars, delivered in English.

The school is primarily aimed at doctoral students at the beginning of their thesis and will also be open to more advanced doctoral students, young postdoctoral researchers, and 2nd year Master students, subject to availability.

Content and teaching format

The program includes:

  • Theoretical and experimental concepts covering a wide range of topics in nanosciences, including the synthesis of nanomaterials, nanofabrication, the physical properties of nanostructures and their interaction with living media.

  • Educational lectures designed to be accessible to anyone with a general scientific background.

  • Interdisciplinary seminars and poster presentation sessions, which will punctuate the week.

At the end of the training, participants will have acquired a solid knowledge base that will support their research and innovation projects in the field of nanosciences.

Setting and organization

Held on the island of Porquerolles, at the IGESA center, the JACSSON summer school will take place in a setting conducive to concentration, discussion, and conviviality.

Participants and speakers will be together on site from Sunday evening, September 6, to Friday noon, September 11, allowing for continuous interaction throughout the week.
This residential setting encourages informal interactions, scientific dialogue, and the creation of lasting bonds, reinforced by several group activities, including evenings dedicated to poster presentations and a convivial closing party.

Free time will also allow participants to explore the island, contributing to a balance between scientific intensity and moments of relaxation in a particularly favorable environment.
